View From The Cloister

[Image ID] The foreground consists of a wall with three arched window openings, through each of which a fantasy scene is visible. The left-hand window is a landscape on a moonlit night. A full moon fills the sky, but the right hand side is partially obscured by tall thin trees. The left side of the moon is also partially covered, in this case by two tall spotty-capped orange toadstools. Beneath them, clusters of smaller mushrooms fill the lower corners of the window. The middle window shows an adult fairy crouched on a branch looking across faint hills in the background. Beneath her branch are various shapes and sizes of brown mushrooms. The right-hand window features a central tall toadstool, which almost reaches the full height of the window. A child fairy stands on either side, looking up at the toadstool, the right hand one is also pointing at it. [description end]

I created this piece in around an hour, mostly using stamps from Lavinia Stamps.

The three window shapes were traced onto paper through remnants left over from cutting out the Sizzix Bigz Die ‘Cathedral Window’.

I ink-blended through the die-cut stencil to try and keep the colour within the window shapes. I used torn paper masks and more ink blending to create the ground and hills. The moon was done using an acetate mask I die-cut with a circle die.

All of the stamps within the ‘windows’ are from Lavinia but the small brick stamp used on the surround came with a papercraft magazine from a couple of years ago.
