[Image ID] Digital painting of 3 characters on a moonlit night. The scene depicts a seated female character, a kneeling male character behind her and on the right of the picture, but on her left, is a male character who is standing up and holding a scroll. The female is sitting in a plush red seat. She is wearing an orange, brown and black velvet dress with a black batwing collar. The sleeves cover her arms from her wrists to just above the elbow and the cuffs are wide and fanlike. Her hair is grey styled with a braid, a bun and a long ringlet either side of her face. She is also wearing a gold tiara. The character behind her is wearing a dark blue sleeveless tunic with gold ornamentation. On his arms he has green arm coverings which are decorated with gold symbols. Behind him is a large multi-paned window through which a large moon and shafts of moonlight can be seen. Purple curtains are tied back either side of the window. The character holding the scroll has reddish brown hair and is wearing glasses. He is wearing a dark blue brocaded jacket with a mandarin style collar and raised epaulettes on the shoulders. The brocading is gold and a light gold, ruffled cravat is also visible. His trousers are dark red. Behind him is a wooden panelled wall. His left hand is raised above his shoulder and is holding a corner of the scroll. His right hand is at waist height and is holding the wooden scroll handle. The female character and the male with the scroll are having a disagreement about something. The other character is present but minding his own business and not getting involved.

I came up with the idea of this piece some time ago, and have finally managed to paint it! It is nice to paint some of the rest of the Candle Of Ice cast, since I typically gravitate towards painting the main characters.

Although not a historical novel, parts of the world are inspired by the Victorian era. The fashion in this piece was based on that of the era, although the lady’s dress has a deliberate modern twist.

The characters in this piece often have very different ways of looking at the world. This puts them at odds sometimes, but they have to cooperate regardless.
