Creature Of The Night

I had seen an image with a large moon in it and that inspired me to paint a picture containing a large moon. Having decided on that, everything else about the piece formed round the moon.

It was also interesting to paint a new variant of dramatic lighting, focusing less on where light is, but rather where it isn’t. The strong shadows caused me to carefully consider where to put detailed brush strokes, as in this piece any excess detail soon distracted from the focal points.
