Christmas Candle Wraps (TCK 50)
[Image ID] Set of 3 round, white pillar candles of different heights arranged in a group with the shortest one at the front. Each candle has a different decorative wrap. On the shortest candle the wrap has a paper image of 3 red candles in the middle of it. There are two, 3D quilled flowers either side of that image – one red and one yellow. On the middle sized candle the wrap has a paper image of 3 star topped Christmas trees and there are 3 red, quilled flowers either side of the image. The wrap on the tallest candle has a large, yellow, 8 pointed star in the centre at the front. A green die cut garland goes round the entire wrap from one side of the star to the other and some green, glittery, circular blobs have been added in a few places on the garland. [description end]

This project was inspired by the Tonic Craft Kit inspiration video of Alison making a candle wrap with quilled flowers. (you can watch the video here)
I had never thought to make a candle wrap before, but this
was a really fun and different project to try! I mostly used dies from the kit,
but added in some other Christmas supplies I had. The width of the wrap is
different on each candle, as I found the added height of bigger candles meant width
needed to increase so it still looked in proportion.
[Image ID] Front and side of the tallest candle. The star has geometric lines going across it which are darker than the rest of the star. [description end]

The design of the star die had lots of holes, so I glued the
die cut star onto some paper which I had ink blended with Fossilized Amber
Distress Oxide to make it a solid piece. Because the outer shape of the star
was simple, I didn’t mind having to fussy cut it out. The garland, or vine,
design which goes around the rest of the candle is made from the corner die in
the kit. Like Alison did in the video, I cut it in half and stuck the pieces
horizontally onto the wrap. The glittery blobs scattered around the garland are
made from hot glue which was covered with glitter. I made them beforehand on a
sheet of greaseproof paper, and stuck them to the wrap with normal wet glue.
[Image ID] Close up of the middle sized candle. The central tree has a yellow baubled garland design going up it. The 2 outer trees have a singular string garland. The quilled flowers are short with multi-layered petals. [description end]

I coloured the trees in a simple
flat layer with some water-based ink pens I had on hand. The three flowers
clustered either side of the trees are created with the spiral flower dies from
the kit.
[Image ID] Close up of the shortest candle. The candles in the paper image are of different heights with the middle one being taller than the two outer ones. The flowers have long petals that stick out, and there are visible stamens that are glittered at the ends. [description end]

The candles are a section of a larger Woodware stamp which,
in its full form, would fill a card front. I stamped only part of it, and cut
the candles out to stick onto the wrap. I used foam tape behind the candle
image to give more room for tucking the quilled flowers in behind. These
flowers were made with the longer ‘strip’ flower dies from the kit. I used some
glittery and metallic pens on the candle flames to make them sparkle in the
light.
