Art Journal: Cloud Collage
-
[Image ID] A splotchy blue sky with 3 stylised white clouds, in an almost triangular formation, outlined in fineliner pen. Dotted lines with raindrops hang beneath the clouds. Different colours and patterns of paper are collaged behind the clouds. [description end]

Once those had been glued on and dried I applied splodges of distress ink, and later blended distress oxide ink randomly in different areas of the page.
The clouds were drawn freehand, and without any reference, using a black fineliner. I tried to vary the size, shape, and angle of the ‘blobs’ forming the edge of the clouds to make them appear more illustrative and less cartoon-like.
Finally, a layer of watered down white gesso was applied inside and around the clouds to ‘mute’ the background and help them stand out.
