Snowdrops at Belton

I visited Belton House again in February, whilst the snowdrops were in flower, and this week I’m sharing a collection of pictures from that visit.

Photo 1
[Image ID] A photo of a latticed window with latticework either side. The window looks out on grass and trees. [description end]

These first two photos were taken through windows in a stone garden shelter. The haze of the glass and the wintery atmosphere beyond created an interesting effect.

Photo 2

A view, through the latticed window, of snowdrops in the grass and trees in the background. [description end]

Photo 3
[Image ID] A close-up photo of a couple of snowdrops within a larger group. [description end]

Photo 4
[Image ID]
A close-up of a clump of snowdrops, surrounded by leaf litter. [description end]

Photo 5
[Image ID] A photo of the garden temple. A central arch acts a doorway to a covered space containing a grey bench. There is a niche, of the kind that can house statues, either side of the arch. It is surrounded by trees and some grass and the corner of a pond are in the foreground. [description end]

This building was situated at the end of a long stretch of water behind the house.

Photo 6
[Image ID] A photo looking along a stream that is bordered both sides by trees. In the centre of the photo, on the left bank of the stream, snowdrops surround the base of a tree and because of the distance they look like a dusting of snow. [description end]

The patch of snowdrops beneath the tree on the left were much denser than ones I’d seen elsewhere in the garden – meaning they came out better in distance photographs.

Photo 7

[Image ID] A more close-up view of the tree and the circle of snowdrops in the previous photo. [description end]
