Lavinia Journal Cover
[Image ID] The cover of a journal laid flat so that both covers are visible. A moonlit scene with a silhouetted fairy stood on a grass topped rocky outcrop. On the far side of the outcrop is a small stone cottage and a bare, windswept tree. [description end]
Each year I make an A5 hand bound journal, and this year I decided to decorate the cover with a Lavinia stamps scene.
[Image ID] The journal is tilted so the stars, shimmery moon and fairy wings as well as highlights on the tree and cottage can be seen more easily. [description end]
It was an
interesting project to make, as I had to consider both the composition of the
entire scene when the journal is flat, but also how each cover will look on its
own when it is folded.
[Image ID] Close up of the back cover, enabling details of plants in the foreground as well as colour and texture on the cottage roof to be seen more easily. [description end]

The basic layout of sky, moon, and ground was created by ink blending a mixture of distress inks and oxides. I used both types of ink due to having different colours of them rather than for a specific effect from their different ink formulations.

After that I used Versafine Clair ink in ‘Nocturne’
(black) to stamp the house, fairy, tree, lantern, and foliage. Finally, I added
colour and detail with a mixture of Fabre Castell Pitt Artist brush pens, and
some sparkle with glitter gel pens/stickles.
