Winter Hare Card
[Image ID] Portrait A6 greetings card featuring a design of a hare running across the snow, with green pine trees in the background. [description end]
I started this card by stamping the large foreground pine tree twice. The first time in Bermuda ink and the second using Della Blue ink. The first time I stamped I sprayed the inked stamp with water to give the resulting impression more of a ‘fuzzy’ effect but the second time I skipped that step to get a clearer impression. By stamping it twice in this way it helped to fill in the gaps between the branches and make the tree appear leafier.
The smaller trees in the background were only stamped in Bermuda ink as the lighter colour used helps to give the impression they are further away.
The gradient in the sky and the shadows from the tree trunks were done by blending a little Della Blue ink onto the paper with a blending sponge.

The hare was initially stamped in Della Blue ink but then I partially inked the stamp again using Warm Breeze Versafine Clair ink to give a shadowed effect.
Once the front of the card was complete I mounted onto a black A6 cardbase I’d made by cutting an A4 sheet in half and then scoring and folding the resulting piece in half. I added white ‘lining’ panels to the inside of the card both for ease of writing and because I used a thinner weight of card which would have struggled to stand upright otherwise.
