Inktober 2024: 22 - Camp

‘Camp’ was the prompt for this painting, and on the surface it looks like it has nothing at all to do with this scene inside what is clearly a building! However, the scene here is based on various photos I’ve seen of ‘Scott of the Arctic’s Hut’ at Cape Evans which was used during Captain Scott’s expeditions to the south pole. Seeing as it wasn’t a permanent residence, I thought it could classify as a ‘camp’ of sorts.

Whilst looking for references for this piece I came across an interesting blog by a photographer with various photos and information about the place. I’ve linked the post here for anyone interested.
