The ‘vase’ on this card wasn’t actually cut with a vase die. It is one side of a box similar to the one associated with the intricate panel I used on this recent card.

When I made the box using the dies as intended I was left with this extra side piece. After looking at it for a while it occurred to me that it not only looked like a vase, but was the perfect size for a 5x7 inch card.

The vase was embossed with a ‘linen’ texture embossing folder to create more visual interest. I cut the vase shape from Kraft card, so it was brown to start with, but I enhanced the colouration with some ink blending over the top of the embossed texture.

The background behind it was created with ‘ink smooshing’ – the same technique as on the card linked in the first paragraph.
