Further Belvoir: Interior

I thought I’d share some more photos from my trip to Belvoir Castle earlier this year. The first set of photos from this trip can be viewed here.

These first four photos are of scenes inside the castle that I liked the look of.

Photo 1

-

[Image ID 1] The view, from the ground floor, through 2 large interior arches up, to a balconied area with a vaulted ceiling which is illuminated by arched windows. [description end]

-

Between the interiors and the gardens I took more photos than will fit in one post, so I plan to share a second one in a few weeks’ time with photos from the gardens.

Photo 2

[Image ID 2] Looking up a staircase, at the top of which are 2 arches through which you can see the decorative metal panelling of another staircase and the underneath of a balcony. The ceiling is vaulted. [description end]

Photo 3

-

[Image ID 3] Large floral display in a yellow and blue vase on a round table. The flowers are orange, blue, and white; and there is a variety of foliage types. [description end]

Photo 4

-

[Image ID 4] Formal dining room, with a display of fruit and flowers as well as a candelabra on the long wooden table. The padded dining chairs have red seats and backs. The large floor rug is a red and white floral pattern. Behind the table, there is a large mirrored arch either side of the fireplace. [description end]

These last two photos are of interesting objects I noticed during my visit.

Photo 5
-

[Image ID 5] An unusually shaped seat in a golden yellow fabric with a floral design. The legs of this Tête-à-tête sofa are wooden with castors on the bottom. [description end]

-

I’d never seen such peculiar chairs before, as they aren’t just arranged like this, and are indeed joined together. In the process of preparing this post, I learnt that the technical term for this piece of furniture is 'Tête-à-tête'.

[Image ID 6] On the left is an arched alcove containing a dark brown lantern and stand, the shape of which somewhat resembles a lighthouse. To the right of the picture is a large, bulbous glass object with a red candle in it. [description end]

-

This tall lantern in the chapel reminded me of a lighthouse. The bulbous lantern to the right hand side was also interesting to look at.
